Tasting note

This Grand Cru from Le Grand Maupertui opens with concentrated aromas of black and ripe red cherry layered with forest-floor notes, subtle truffle and well-judged cedar-spice from generous new oak. On the palate it feels polished yet structured: silky mid-palate texture gives way to firm, fine-grained tannins and a mineral, savory spine. The oak influence lends vanilla and baking spice while tertiary leather and earth notes add complexity with age. A long, savory finish makes it a superb pairing for roast duck or game.

Winery

Domaine Anne Gros is part of the Gros family’s long Burgundian tradition, crafting wines with classic appellation expression and careful cellar work. Vinification at the domaine follows traditional methods: reds are fermented in lined cement tanks with temperature control tailored to vintage conditions, fermenting 12–15 days. Free-run and press fractions are blended after settling for at least 48 hours. Grand crus see approximately 16 months of barrel ageing with a high proportion of new oak (about 80%), producing wines of concentration, spice and aging potential.
