Tasting note: Bright, classically Burgundian aromatics of red and black cherry, ripe raspberry and a thread of forest floor and leather. On the palate the wine balances lively acidity with fine-grained, polished tannins; notes of baking spice, subtle smoky oak and a clear mineral seam carry through to a persistent, refined finish. Producer notes: Domaine Follin-Arbelet is a small family domaine in Aloxe-Corton, run by Franck Follin-Arbelet. The domaine focuses on low-yield, quality-driven viticulture that expresses site character and restraint rather than overt extraction. Their Les Vercots parcel yields wines with clarity and structure for long ageing. Winemaking notes: Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified with careful extraction to preserve aromatics and finesse. Fermentation favors native yeasts, gentle punchdowns and a moderate maceration length. The wine is matured in French oak barrels (a portion in new oak) for roughly 12–16 months, then rested in bottle before release. Vineyard notes: Les Vercots sits on classic Côte de Beaune limestone-clay slopes with good exposure and vines of mature age. Soils deliver a mineral backbone and balanced vigor; cool nights in the 2021 season helped retain acidity and aromatic precision. Drinking window: 2027–2040.
