This 18-year-old Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Highland Park is a sophisticated and complex spirit. Matured in a high proportion of first-fill sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, it presents a medley of ripe cherries dusted with bittersweet cocoa, freshly harvested honeycomb, and candied orange peel. There’s a whisper of Orkney’s salty seaspray in the aromatic peat smoke. With repeated sips, the flavor grows more interesting—piquant peaty notes are joined by deep, complex toffee. This Scotch is a big boy—look for assertive, brawny flavors and alcohol burn. However, it still has nuance. A perfect companion for grilled meats, smoked salmon, or strong cheeses.
