2019 L'If is a captivating wine from Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux. This wine presents a deep, dark, ruby-red color with aromas that combine savory notes and fresh red fruit. On the palate, it starts slowly with cedar and vanilla notes before the mulberry fruit opens up. Medium to full-bodied and tightly structured, the finish displays good acidity, freshness, and structure. The warming alcohol is balanced by the fruit and the wine's structure, giving the finish good length. Produced by Jacques Thienpont, this wine is a rightful return to his family history, with vines located near the prestigious vineyards of Troplong Mondot and Château Valandraud. The vineyard spans 8 hectares with clay and limestone-clay terroir, and the wine is aged for 12 to 16 months in barrels (50% new, 50% second fill).
