Tasting note

This Grand Cru from Domaine Jacques Cacheux's Echezeaux parcel delivers a poised, terroir-driven expression. On the nose, ripe red fruit—red cherry and raspberry—meld with forest-floor earthiness and a vein of sweet spice and cedar from oak ageing. The palate is elegant yet concentrated: silky texture, medium-plus acidity and fine-grained tannins support layered flavors of dried herbs, mushroom, subtle leather and toasted vanilla. The wine was matured in French oak, showing integrated oak influence rather than overt new wood. With its balance of freshness, depth and refined structure, it rewards gentle decanting and pairs beautifully with game birds, roasted veal, mushroom-forward dishes and aged cheeses. Cellaring potential extends while the wine continues to gain tertiary complexity.

Winery

Domaine Jacques Cacheux is a family-run domaine based in Flagey-Échezeaux, focused on exacting vineyard work and expressing the character of each parcel. The team practices careful yield control and selective harvesting to bring concentrated, site-driven fruit to the cellar. Vinification favors gentle extraction and élevage in French oak barrels (with a measured proportion of new oak) to build structure and complexity while preserving brightness and terroir identity.
