Tasting Note: A mature, elegant Margaux showing a deep garnet with rust at the rim. The nose opens to layered aromas of truffle, cedar, tobacco, ripe plum, dark berry and spice, with a cool, minty lift. On the palate it is medium-weight and refined: silky, gentle tannins support concentrated but graceful flavors, finishing with length and a clean, lingering mineral-tinged close. Producer & Vineyard: Château Palmer — a Third Growth known for its devotion to terroir — farms 66 hectares of gravelly soils and grassy rows overlooking the Gironde estuary. The estate emphasizes balance, focus and a signature silkiness born of site and winemaking. Vintage & Winemaking: The 1962 season was late and varied, with spring delays and a long ripening that led to an October harvest (1–16 Oct). Matured in oak and bottled under cork, this wine now drinks in a fully mature, ready-to-enjoy window. Given its age and delicate tertiary character, brief decanting (about 30 minutes) helps reveal aromatic layers without risking rapid fade. Cellar & Pairing: Drink now. Best with roasted or grilled red meats, game and firm, savory cheeses. Serve slightly below room temperature to preserve its freshness and nuance.
