Tasting Note: Deep amber in the glass, this 1982 Delord Vintage Armagnac opens with a complex bouquet of dried apricot, baked prune, toffee, and warm oak spice, layered with leather and tobacco. On the palate it is rich and velvety — candied citrus and toasted almond mingle with vanilla and coffee notes, evolving into a long, warming finish. Producer Notes: Delord’s story began in 1893 when Prosper Delord moved his alambic from farm to farm. The house remains family-run in Lannepax, combining traditional know-how with careful cellar management. Their cellars hold over a thousand barrels and special “Paradise” bonbonnes for the oldest eaux-de-vie. Winemaking Notes: Grapes are harvested and vinified parcel by parcel with strict temperature control and settling. Distillation is carried out in winter, using both the continuous Armagnac method and double distillation where appropriate. Maturation takes place in a mix of oak barrels and tanks, producing a deeply integrated, oaked spirit. Vineyard Notes: The estate’s 45 hectares, divided into 11 parcels around Lannepax, are tended year-round by a dedicated team. The attention to vine health and precise harvesting yields wines ideal for distillation — aromatic, slightly acidic and low in alcohol to concentrate flavors during distillation. Service: Best enjoyed neat in a tulip glass. Allow 15 minutes after opening to let the aromatics open up; serve slightly below room temperature.
