Tasting Note: Deep, Pauillac classic — aromas of blackcurrant and black cherry layered with cedar, tobacco and a hint of violet over crushed-stone minerality. The palate is concentrated and broad, showing ripe dark fruit framed by sweet, persistent tannins and well-integrated oak spice. A serious, structured bottle with a long, graphite-tinged finish.

Producer Notes: From Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a Fifth Growth estate in Pauillac renowned for powerful, classically-styled wines. The château works with mature vines and a terroir of very deep coarse gravel that gives notable drive and mineral precision to the wines.

Winemaking Notes: Fruit is exclusively hand-harvested with two successive selections before and after de-stemming. Vinification includes an extended maceration of roughly three weeks. The wine is aged 16–18 months in French oak, with about 75% new barrels each vintage, imparting structure and toast/spice complexity.

Vineyard Notes: Average vine age around 38 years on very deep gravel soils. Low yields from old vines and rigorous sorting contribute to concentration and fine-grained tannins.

Serve & Cellaring: At over four decades old this vintage benefits from careful decanting (about 45 minutes) to lift aromas and separate any sediment. Pair with grilled or roasted red meats and mature cheeses.
