Bright, concentrated and regionally expressive, the 2007 Harry & Edward's Garden shows fragrant dark-plum and black-cherry fruit layered with minty lift and hints of dark chocolate. Savory, slightly eucalyptus-tinged aromas give way to a plush, velvety mid-palate framed by fine, ripe tannins and subtle cedar/oak spice. Crafted by Ben Perkins from Langhorne Creek parcels managed by Travis Coombe, the wine was produced in small lots with careful extraction to preserve texture, then matured in a mix of seasoned and new oak to add spice without overpowering fruit. Best served after a good decant to reveal tertiary complexity — leathery, cocoa and savoury notes emerge with time. A classic, food-friendly bottle built for grilled and roasted red meats or richer, slow-cooked dishes.
