Lagavulin 12yo SR2023

A bold coastal dram from a renowned Islay distillery, presented as the 2023 special release. Expect a theatrical nose of smoked peat, sea spray and iodine that opens to layers of rich toffee, vanilla oak and a touch of dried fruit. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated — dense smoke and maritime minerality are balanced by warm oak spice and a hint of citrus oil. The texture is oily and generous, finishing with an enduring, mouth-coating tail of smoke, salted caramel and a medicinal echo. Producer notes: matured in selected oak casks with careful blending to preserve the signature peaty character that defines the house style. Distillation & maturation: traditional floor-malting influence and Islay peat used in the malt drying, long cask ageing in coastal warehouses imparts maritime notes and oak-driven spice. Vineyard notes (regional context): barley grown in nearby regions and the island’s peat bogs and salt air shape the malt and smoke profile.
