Tasting note
A classic Margaux from Château Durfort‑Vivens, the 2019 'Le Hameau' opens with an attractive bouquet of blackcurrant and blueberry framed by violet florals, ripe cherry and a hint of tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate it shows round, ripe fruit with a slightly creamy texture and finely woven, ultra‑fine tannins that support rather than dominate. Medium-bodied with a lively yet integrated acidity, the wine was produced from biodynamically tended vines under Gonzague Lurton's ownership and matured roughly 16–18 months in a mix of amphora and barriques with a modest proportion of new oak—resulting in polished oak integration and a long, savory finish. Drink now with short decanting or cellar to mid-term for greater integration.

Château Durfort‑Vivens is a historic Margaux estate now run by Gonzague Lurton. The property blends traditional Médoc practices with careful biodynamic attention in several parcels, aiming for elegant wines that reflect the gravelly terroir of Margaux. Attention to vinification—including amphora trials alongside barrel ageing—and restrained new oak are hallmarks of recent vintages.
