A mature, classic Haut-Médoc from Château Sociando-Mallet showing a deep, dark colour and a bouquet of concentrated black fruit, cedar and earth. On the palate it is full-bodied with layered flavours of cassis, leather and spice, framed by well-integrated oak and a mineral thread. Decades in bottle have softened the youthful vigour into balanced structure and a long, savory finish. Producer notes highlight traditional vinification using native yeasts, temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats, daily pump-overs during fermentation, and 12 months ageing in oak. The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates to preserve fruit integrity. Best enjoyed with rich red meats, game or mature cheeses; decant carefully to separate any sediment and allow the complex tertiary aromas to open.
