Tasting note: This limited 2026 X.O. release from Hennessy—an artistic Year of the Horse collaboration with Xu Zhen—opens with glossy notes of dried apricot, candied orange peel and honeyed spice. The palate is plush and warm: layers of vanilla, caramel and toasted oak unfold alongside subtle leather and tobacco accents, finishing long and resonant with a silky mouthfeel. Producer notes: Hennessy marks the lunar celebration with a specially designed bottle by contemporary artist Xu Zhen; inside sits their signature X.O. blend, curated by the Maison’s master blenders for complexity and age. This is as much a collector’s object as it is a drinking Cognac. Winemaking notes: Crafted from a precise selection of aged eaux-de-vie, distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured in French oak barrels for extended ageing. The blend balances oxidative oak influence with rich, fruit-driven layers and spice developed in cask. Vineyard notes: Sourced from the Cognac region’s classic crus, the eaux-de-vie reflect the chalky, limestone-infused soils and moderated maritime climate that lend nervy minerality and purity to the distillate.
