2022 Domaine Bertrand Machard de Gramont Vosne Romanee Barreaux

Tasting Note: Bright and poised, this Vosne-Romanée offers a perfumed bouquet of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry lifted by violet florals and a hint of forest floor. The palate is silky with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a cool mineral thread that carries a spicy, gently toasted finish.

Producer Notes: From the modestly sized domaine of Bertrand Machard de Gramont, Les Barreaux is handled with a clear focus on terroir expression. The estate practises careful, low-yield viticulture and picks fruit selectively to preserve freshness and purity of flavours.

Winemaking Notes: Grapes are hand-harvested, sorted and fermented with attentive extraction to retain elegance. Aging in French oak barrels for about a year (with a portion refreshed each vintage) softens tannins while preserving bright fruit. The wine sees gentle élevage on fine lees and minimal filtration before bottling.

Vineyard Notes: Les Barreaux sits on well-draining limestone-clay slopes of Vosne-Romanée with balanced exposure that favours ripeness and aromatic precision. Low yields and meticulous canopy work let the site’s mineral signature and refined fruit profile shine through. Drink now with decanting or cellar for several years to watch further development.
