Tasting note
Bright and inviting on the nose, this 2023 bottling opens with honeysuckle, white peach, orange rind and a whisper of vanilla; ripe tropical notes of pineapple and yellow citrus weave through a honeyed spine. On the palate it is vivacious and creamy yet tightly framed by lively, saline-driven acidity — a clear expression of cool-climate minerality and measured oak. The texture is rounded and generous without losing freshness, finishing long with a crisp, savory edge. From the cellars of Château Mouton Rothschild, Aile d'Argent is drawn from the estate's plateau vineyards planted on deep gravel — soils that give lift, tension and an underlying salinity. Harvested late August to early September, the 2023 was vinified without malolactic fermentation and spent around six months in French oak, a regimen that preserves acidity while adding subtle creaminess and complexity. Skilled cellar work by Philippe, Julien and Camille Sereys de Rothschild ensures balance between precision and richness, making this a white that is approachable on release yet rewarding with medium-term cellaring.
