The palate is richly textured yet finely balanced by lively acidity and a mineral, saline undertow that carries into a long, savory finish. Producer notes: From a true monopole—Clos du Château de la Maltroye—this bottling represents the estate’s historical heart. The domaine has long been recognised for producing concentrated, terroir-driven whites that combine precision with a plush mid-palate. Winemaking notes: Fruit is carefully selected and gently pressed, with fermentation primarily in oak barrels (part new, part seasoned) to add spice and texture. Lees ageing brings creaminess and complexity, while thoughtful élevage preserves freshness and minerality. Vineyard notes: The Clos benefits from classic Chassagne-Montrachet soils—calcareous, well-drained slopes giving pronounced minerality and defined acidity. Vines are tended for balance and low yields, producing concentrated grapes that reflect site and vintage. Cellaring & serving: Approachable now with a 30-minute decant to open aromatics; will evolve positively over the next 5–8 years. Serve at 10–12°C with seafood, creamy fish dishes or mature cheeses.
