The 2022 M. Chapoutier Chateauneuf-du-Pape Croix de Bois Rouge is a testament to the mastery of the Chapoutier family. This biodynamically crafted wine hails from the eastern slopes of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, where water-retentive soils of quartzite shingles and sandy red clay nurture the vines. The wine boasts an intense red appearance and a nose filled with black fruits and blackberry jam. On the palate, it is unctuous and ample, with warm tannins and a rich, concentrated structure. The finish is exceptionally long and refined, making it a wine to savor now or cellar for decades. Crafted with meticulous care, the grapes are hand-picked, destemmed, and vinified in concrete tanks, followed by 14-16 months of aging in tanks. This wine pairs beautifully with lamb, BBQ, or aged cheeses.
