Tasting note
A canonical expression from one of Bordeaux's greatest estates, the 2022 showcases an intense, perfumed bouquet of blackcurrant, violet and cool graphite, edged by cedar and tobacco. On the palate it is concentrated yet refined: layers of black and red fruit unfurl against silky, fine-grained tannins and a saline freshness that keeps the wine lit rather than heavy. The texture is dense without astringency, with spice and gentle oak framing a very long, focused finish. Producer notes emphasise the unique terroir and the balance of finesse, complexity and length. Winemaking for 2022 was meticulous — an early, careful harvest (8–27 Sep), very low yields and selection left only around 40% for the Grand Vin, followed by roughly 20 months in French oak. Expect remarkable aging potential; ideal drinking window is from the early 2030s into mid-century. For earlier enjoyment decant about 90 minutes to open the aromatics and soften structure.
