Tasting note: A brooding, noble Grand Cru with an expressive bouquet of red and dark cherries, wild raspberry, and violet, layered over damp forest floor and crushed stone. On the palate it shows concentrated fruit, lively acidity and well-knit, fine-grained tannins that wrap around a core of spice and mineral detail, building to a long, persistent finish. Producer notes: From the respected family domaine of Robert Groffier in Gevrey, this Clos‑de‑Beze expresses careful selection in every bottle. The domaine is known for low yields, meticulous sorting and an emphasis on representing the terroir of Chambertin Clos‑de‑Beze with precision and restraint. Winemaking notes: Hand-harvested fruit is vinified using traditional Burgundian methods with gentle extraction to preserve aromatic lift. The wine is matured in French oak barrels (including a portion of new oak) for an extended élevage to integrate structure and toast without masking the vineyard character. Vineyard notes: Sourced from steep, well‑drained parcels within the historic Clos‑de‑Beze Grand Cru — soils of limestone and clay with excellent sun exposure and old vine material produce concentrated, terroir-driven fruit. This vintage offers excellent ageing potential; best enjoyed after some cellaring (peak drinking 2029–2045). Service: Decant for about 2 hours if drinking in youth. Serve at 16–18°C.
