Tasting note: A confident Speyside expression — the nose opens with concentrated dried orchard fruits, warm toffee and brown sugar, edged by leather and smoked oak. On the palate it is full-bodied and layered: rich molasses and dark fruit arrive first, then a savory, almost meaty backbone, black pepper and baking spice, finishing with lingering caramel, toasted oak and a warming spice. Producer notes: This is an independent King's Wine Cellar selection bottled from Mortlach spirit distilled in 2007 and matured for 13 years. The bottling showcases Mortlach's signature robustness and depth. Winemaking/aging notes: Hand-selected casks were used to preserve the distillery character — a balance of ex-bourbon freshness and older oak spice influence gives fruit sweetness and savory complexity. No chill-filtration; bottled at a flavour-forward strength to retain oils and texture. Vineyard and region notes: Born of Speyside waters and traditional floor-malted barley, Mortlach benefits from Dufftown’s cool climate and pure spring sources.
