Tasting note

Tasting Note: Bright ruby with an aromatic lift — hibiscus petals, ripe strawberry and a hint of cantaloupe lead, then deepen into red prune, raspberry and cherry with flashes of lemon peel and subtle earthy spice. Medium–full in body, the palate is lively and structured: fine, firm tannins frame juicy acidity and a chewy, persistent finish. Producer Notes: From Gianni Gagliardo, this Barolo sources fruit from classic Barolo crus across La Morra and Monforte (including Santa Maria, Serra dei Turchi, Bricco San Pietro, Castelletto and Mosconi) plus other well-regarded sites. The 2019 shows the house focus on balance — ripe fruit expression tempered by measured extraction and careful oak use. Winemaking Notes: Fermentation is traditionally guided with attentive maceration to extract aromatic complexity and structured tannins. Aging follows in a combination of large Slavonian casks and selected French oak, allowing the wine to gain texture and polish without losing its primary fruit clarity. Vineyard Notes: The fruit comes from a mosaic of hillside sites, with calcareous, well-drained soils and exposures that favor ripening while preserving natural acidity. Elevation and morning mists help retain freshness, producing grapes with concentration and refined tannic backbone. Serve and Enjoy: Best served after about 90 minutes of decanting if recently bottled. Drinkable now for those who appreciate youthful structure, and will develop further complexity through the decade. Pair with roasted lamb, mushroom-scented game, rich pasta dishes or aged hard cheeses.
