Tasting note: The 2019 Madonna del Piano opens with crystalline red-fruit clarity—ripe cherry and plum—layered with earth, tobacco, cedar and spices from careful oak maturation. On the palate a concentrated, focused core of fruit is shaped by bright, persistent acidity and refined yet powerful tannins that build toward a very long, seamless finish. Producer notes: Valdicava is one of Montalcino’s benchmark producers, crafting single-vineyard Riservas that emphasize site identity and ageing potential. This Riserva is drawn from the Madonna del Piano holding and represents the estate’s commitment to precision in the vineyard and restraint in cellar. Winemaking notes: Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo extended maceration to extract structure and depth; fermentation and careful temperature control preserve purity of fruit. The wine receives prolonged maturation in large oak casks with judicious use of smaller barrel influence for texture and spice.
