Big Peat Small Batch Christmas Edition (2021) is a bold, cask‑strength celebration of Islay’s smoky character. Pouring with generous peat and coastal salinity, the nose opens with unwaxed lemon and sweet clementine over antiseptic and cigar ash. The palate is oily and full‑bodied: waves of smoke and saline minerality carry vanilla, fudge and warm baking spices. Despite its power, the whisky stays balanced — a big, generous dram that rewards a short rest in the glass or a few drops of water to reveal layers. Produced by Douglas Laing as a festive small‑batch release, it showcases malts drawn from renowned Islay houses and the island’s peat‑smoke signature.
