2021 Domaine Serge Dagueneau et Filles Pouilly Fume L'Odyssee Terroir Silex

L'Odyssee from Domaine Serge Dagueneau et Filles is a textbook Pouilly-Fumé driven by silex-rich terroir. The nose opens with struck flint and cool smoke, followed by zesty citrus, grapefruit peel and a green apple lift. On the palate it is bright and focused: high, nervy acidity frames a medium-bodied core of saline minerality, subtle herbaceous lift and a fine, mouth-coating texture from gentle lees contact. Winemaker notes describe hand-harvested fruit from low-yield hillside parcels, whole-bunch or gentle pressing and cool, controlled fermentations (stainless steel) with time on fine lees to build texture without oak influence. The result is precise, food-friendly and saline, ideal with shellfish, oily fishes or goat cheese.
