2023 Mollydooker The Scooter Merlot

McLaren Vale

Soul Hook: Plush, juicy McLaren Vale character at a value that keeps you coming back.

Why choose it? (Feature -> Benefit)
1) Ripe McLaren Vale fruit -> Immediate approachability for everyday enjoyment.
2) Bold, concentrated style -> Delivers generous mid-palate and long drinkability.
3) Carefully oaked maturation -> Adds spice and chocolate notes without overpowering the fruit.

Winemaker & Vineyard Notes
From a family-driven McLaren Vale cellar known for ripe, fruit-forward reds. Grapes are selected from warm, well-drained sites and undergo gentle extraction to preserve plush texture. Matured in a mix of new and seasoned oak to add sweet spice and cedar framing.

Sommelier's Private Note
On the nose: plush dark plum and glazed cherry with a thread of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate: generous fruit core, soft-to-medium tannins and a rounded, slightly chocolatey finish. This is wine that opens quickly—45 minutes decant softens the oak and lets the fruit breathe. Ideal for a relaxed dinner when you want structure without austerity.

Occasions & Pairing Guide
Perfect for weekend roast dinners, convivial BBQs with friends, or a Hong Kong-style family meal with soy-glazed pork or mildly spiced lamb. Pairs especially well with grilled red meat, teriyaki beef, and richer mushroom dishes.

Competitive Edge
Compared with big-label imports, this offers Mollywooder-style concentration and McLaren Vale ripeness at a much friendlier price—appealing to those who want bold, immediate pleasure without the markup.
