This 2017 Grand Cru from Domaine Mongeard‑Mugneret offers a classic Côte de Nuits profile: bright garnet colour with an immediate perfume of ripe red fruits threaded through vanilla, warm spice and a faint smoky/torrefaction note from generous new oak. Time in 60–80% new barrels lends a creamy, toasted oak layer that frames rather than overwhelms the fruit.

On the palate the wine is supple and broad: an energetic attack moves into a succulent mid‑palate of red cherry and kirsch, then develops savory tertiary notes of mushrooms, truffle and woodland as it opens. Tannins are fine and elegant rather than aggressive, balanced by good acidity and a medium‑plus body that carries the complex bouquet to a long, polished finish.

Vineyard and winemaking notes: vines average 25–60 years on hard limestone with low clay content; the domaine farms roughly 1.82 ha within the appellation and grapes are hand‑sorted at the winery.
