Tasting Note: Bright, expressive nose of white flowers, lemon peel and ripe orchard fruit with toasted almond and a touch of spicy new oak. The palate is saline and tactile, with a firm citrus-driven acid spine supporting a creamy, medium-full body and integrated oak. Mineral tension and a concentrated core lead to a long, polished finish.
Producer Notes: From Château de la Maltroye in Chassagne-Montrachet, this 2020 reflects the estate’s focus on precision and texture. Parcels are selected for their minerality and balance, harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness.
Winemaking Notes: Fermented and matured in French oak (including a portion of new barrels) with lees contact to add richness and mouthfeel. Careful oak integration and controlled élevage preserve the wine’s energy and aging potential.
Vineyard Notes: Vines planted on limestone-influenced soils with good drainage; exposures that encourage ripeness while retaining natural acidity. Low-to-moderate yields and attentive canopy work promote concentration and clarity of expression.
Serving Suggestion: Best served lightly chilled and given a short decant (about 30 minutes) to open up aromas and soften the oak influence.
