The 2014 Chateau Leoville Poyferre is a classic Saint-Julien wine, showcasing an intense garnet color with purple highlights. On the nose, it reveals subtle and delicious fragrances of black cherry, blackberry, and well-integrated oak, with a hint of liquorice adding freshness. The palate is lively, plump, and mouth-filling, with beautifully balanced fine-grained tannins. Aromas of black fruit and delicate oak persist on the harmonious finish. This wine is medium-bodied, chewy, bright, sweet, and fresh, with an herbal and leafy accent to the red fruit in the finish. It is still youthful but can be enjoyed with 2 hours of decanting.
