Chateau Doisy Vedrines 1989 (750 ml)

1989 Chateau Doisy Vedrines

A mature, classically Sauternes-styled sweet wine from the recognised Deuxièmes Cru Château Doisy-Vedrines. Aromas open to honeyed apricot, orange marmalade and candied citrus, layered with vanilla, toasted oak and gentle caramel from 18 months of barrel ageing. On the palate it is lush yet balanced: ripe sweetness is tempered by fresh acidity, with a silky mouthfeel and concentrated flavors that build to a long, refined finish. Vineyard soils of clay and limestone and the estate’s botrytised harvest give it depth and complexity. Best served slightly chilled and briefly decanted to open aromatics. Ideal with blue cheeses, foie gras, and fruit-based desserts.

Winery

Chateau Doisy-Vedrines is a longstanding estate in the Sauternes/Barsac area, classed as a Deuxième Cru. The property benefits from the local microclimate that encourages botrytis development, and the estate focuses on careful harvesting of affected grapes and maturation in oak (commonly around 18 months). The style aims for balance between luscious sweetness and refreshing acidity, producing elegant, ageworthy dessert wines.
