Tasting note: Bright golden in the glass. The nose opens with ripe orchard fruit—apple and pear—layered with dried fruit and warm spice, a hint of anise and blanched almond. Palate is balanced and silky: toffee and honeyed notes from bourbon casks combine with richer dried-fruit and gentle bitter-almond edges from sherry influence. Clean malt backbone persists, giving a fragrant, slightly nutty character and a long, fruity finish.
Producer notes: Made by Glengoyne Distillery in the Highlands and owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, this 12-year-old expression showcases the distillery’s signature unpeated style and emphasis on fruity, malty clarity.
Production & maturation: Distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured for 12 years in a selection of seasoned oak casks (a mix of bourbon and sherry-influenced barrels). The careful spirit cuts and patient maturation focus on preserving orchard fruit brightness alongside oak-derived spice and toffee.
Estate & sourcing: Barley and water sourced with attention to local terroir—Highland climate, clean spring water and cool maturation conditions contribute to the whisky’s crisp fruit profile and steady integration of oak character.
