Royal Brackla Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Tasting note: Plush and inviting, Royal Brackla’s 12-year expression finished in Oloroso sherry casks opens with ripe dried fruit—figs, raisins and baked orange—layered over toffee and warm vanilla. Toasted oak and a gentle spice frame the mid-palate, while a hint of dark chocolate and subtle smoke lead to a long, warming finish.

Producer notes: Crafted at Royal Brackla Distillery in the Highlands, this single malt reflects a legacy of careful maturation and cask selection. The distillery’s focus on clean fermentation and classic pot-still distillation yields a spirit that takes well to rich sherry cask influence without losing its Highland character.

Maturation & finishing: Matured for 12 years in traditional oak before being finished in Oloroso sherry casks, the whisky gains concentrated dried-fruit sweetness and nutty complexity from the Spanish oak. The finish period in oloroso wood adds layered spicy notes and an indulgent roundedness rather than overt woodiness.

Vineyard / barley & environment notes: While not a wine, the malted barley and pure Highland water are integral—barley sourced from nearby farming country and the cool, maritime-influenced climate give a sturdy yet supple spirit. Expect a full, mouth-coating texture with refined oak structure and lingering spice.
