2019 Chateau Cantemerle

A classic Fifth Growth from Haut-Médoc showing concentrated, elegant Médoc character. Aromas open to black and red berry fruits with olive, tobacco and cedar notes over subtle vanilla from medium-toast French oak. On the palate the wine displays silky, polished tannins, lively freshness and a layering of spicy, peppery and earthy flavours culminating in a long, poised finish. Produced from well-drained silica and gravel soils, the domaine vinifies with total destemming, hand sorting, 6–8 days fermentation at 24–28°C and extended maceration (20–25 days). Aged 12 months in French oak barrels (40% new). Hand-harvested with careful vineyard selection; the property manages mature vines at high density for concentration and balance. Best served after decanting for about an hour; pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Château Cantemerle is a classified Fifth Growth with deep roots in the Médoc. Long-term investments in the vineyard and cellars have modernised winemaking while preserving tradition. The estate covers extensive vineyard surface on silica-and-gravel soils and produces several hundred thousand bottles annually from mature, high-density plantings. Vinification emphasizes hand-sorting, careful extraction and aging in French oak to balance freshness, structure and aromatic complexity.
