Tasting note: Deep, radiant garnet in the glass with an aromatic lift of toasted spice, tobacco and red-fruit compote leading to darker cherry-stone and subtle mineral top notes. On the palate the wine is full, focused and well-defined: succulent fruit fronts refined, flavoursome tannins with a hint of dark chocolate and a slightly saline, lingering finish. Producer notes: From a 5ème Grand Cru Classé estate in Pauillac, this 2011 was made in a warm, dry vintage that produced low yields and concentrated, structured wines. Administrator Philippe Dhalluin oversaw a careful picking (12–28 September) and vinification aimed at clarity and precision. Winemaking notes: Fermented and matured for 18 months in barrels (55% new oak), the wine shows integrated oak influence and fine-grained structure. Harvest conditions delivered ripe phenolics while preserving freshness. Vineyard notes: The vineyard sits on classic Médoc gravel over clay-limestone soils. Early flowering and a hot, dry growing season (with a drier summer overall) gave ripe, concentrated fruit and natural depth. Serving suggestion: Decant for 60–90 minutes to allow the tannins to open. Serve with richer red meats, roasted lamb or mature cheeses.
