2016 Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou - Le Petit Caillou

Tasting note: Bright red-fruit aromatics lead — ripe cherry and raspberry with subtle floral lift, cedar spice and an undercurrent of graphite and tobacco. The palate is juicy and focused, framed by fine, polished tannins and balanced acidity; mid-weight with a mineral-tinged finish.
Producer notes: Le Petit Caillou is the approachable, youthful expression from the Borie family's Ducru-Beaucaillou estate, showcasing the appellation's class and precision without the density of the grand vin. It reflects careful selection from younger vines and the estate's Saint-Julien signature of elegance.
Winemaking notes: Vinified for clarity and freshness with careful extraction to preserve fruit purity. The wine receives élevage in oak that integrates supportive spice and texture while keeping the primary fruit forward. The result is a refined, ready-to-enjoy bottle that also rewards short-term cellaring.
Vineyard notes: Sourced from the estate's younger plots within Saint-Julien, on well-draining gravelly soils that give lift and minerality. The maritime influence and classic Médoc soils lend fine tannins and a poised structural backbone.
