Tasting note: The 2009 vintage of this Saint-Julien estate offers a polished, medium‑to‑full palate with ripe dark fruit at the forefront — black cherry and blackberry — layered with tobacco, cedar, cocoa and a touch of savoury earth. Fine‑grained tannins and a mineral backbone give the wine structure while oak influence remains present but integrated after ageing. Producer notes: Created by Henri Martin and assembled from numerous prized parcels, the estate’s quality stems from careful parcel selection and traditional attention to detail. Ownership today under Jean Louis Triaud continues that focus on consistent, classic Médoc style. Winemaking notes: Hand-harvested, fermentations are traditional in temperature‑controlled stainless steel. The wine was aged for 14 months in casks, with roughly 40% renewed on average, yielding a measured oak frame and well polished texture. Vineyard notes: Vineyards are mainly in the Saint‑Julien appellation (with some parcels in Haut‑Médoc under a different label), harvested by hand and managed parcel by parcel to capture typical Médoc concentration and freshness. Cellaring & serve: Drinking window spans now into long term ageing (originally 2012–2042). For near‑term drinking, decant 45–60 minutes to open aromas. Pair with roasted or grilled red meats and aged cheeses.
