Tasting note

2003 年的 Château Montrose 帶著典型的聖艾斯泰夫風格:濃郁飽滿、結構紮實但富有優雅。當年雖遇高溫,但酒莊坐落的砂礫覆蓋黏土的梯田提供了天然的排水與深層蓄水,讓果實保有鮮明的活力。聞起來有黑莓、黑加侖與藍莓的深色果香,逐漸轉為可可、摩卡、甘草與些許煙草、香木與礦物氣息。口感豐滿且層次分明:黑色果實與巧克力感厚實,單寧強而細緻,質地柔順如天鵝絨,酸度支撐整體架構,使收尾悠長且清爽。酒廠對葡萄分級採摘、在酒窖細緻控溫發酵並以橡木桶熟成約十八個月,整體釀造精緻、耐放。建議醒酒一小時,搭配烤牛肉、羊肉或濃郁硬奶酪最能襯托它的厚實與細膩。

2003 Château Montrose is a classic Saint-Estèphe expression — a dense, full-bodied Grand Cru with power, depth and refinement. The vintage produced ripe, concentrated fruit but Montrose’s gravelly terraces and deep clay subsoil preserved a surprising freshness and lift. The bouquet unfurls layers of ripe dark berries, blueberries and mulberries, moving into cassis, cocoa and mocha with hints of tobacco, cedar, licorice and saline/earthy notes. On the palate it is opulent yet structured: plush dark fruit and chocolatey notes are supported by firm, polished tannins and a lively thread of acidity. Aged in oak for about 18 months, this wine shows an impressive length and the balance to age gracefully. Producer-led selection in both vineyard and cellar, careful harvest (11–26 September) and extended élevage deliver a wine that is voluptuous now but with long-term potential. Ideal with roasted or grilled red meats, game and mature cheeses; decant for an hour to reveal the aromatic layers.

Château Montrose is a 2ème Grand Cru Classé with a remarkable, contiguous 95-hectare estate surrounding the château and cellars. Long-standing attention to parcel monitoring, rigorous selection in the vineyard and cellar, and classic oak ageing define its style. The terroir — gravel and sand over clay with excellent natural drainage toward the estuary — produces powerful yet refined wines. Ownership today is by Martin and Olivier Bouygues.
