2002 Chateau Palmer

品嚐筆記:酒色深寶石紅,散發成熟梅果和深色果實香,伴隨香料調性──肉桂、丁香、肉豆蔻等,再有雪松、煙草與森林泥土的複雜氣息。口感上力量與優雅並存:活潑的酸度撐起全酒,單寧細緻卻有骨架,中段質地帶絲滑感,尾韻偏鹹香、有一點野味,收得長而耐人尋味。酒莊與田地:寶馬莊位於瑪歌核心,66公頃礫石土壤面向吉倫德河,風土明顯——這裡的人用心耕作,只為釀出重心分明、平衡且有延展性的酒。2002年初春與開花期天氣帶來挑戰,卻在八月熱期與九月乾爽夜晚促成高濃縮度的果實。釀造與陳年:為了控制糖分與萃取,採用了低溫發酵、適度浸皮與較短的浸漬期,之後以約18個月的橡木桶熟成,瓶塞封瓶。飲用建議:開瓶後醒一小時左右會更開放,適合搭配紅肉或風乾奶酪,一起感受層次與尾韻。


Tasting note: Deep garnet in the glass, this 2002 shows concentrated plum and dark-fruit aromas layered with a spicy ribbon—cinnamon, cloves and mace—plus cedar, tobacco and subtle forest-floor notes. On the palate it is powerful yet refined: fresh acidity frames the wine, fine, medium-to-firm tannins give backbone and a silky midpalate carries ripe, savoury fruit into a long gamey finish. Producer notes: Château Palmer speaks of terroir and devotion — 66 hectares of gravelly soils overlooking the Gironde, delivering wines of focus, balance, length and silk. Winemaking: In 2002 the team favoured low-temperature fermentation with moderate pumping over and a relatively short maceration to manage high sugar and extract ripe colour and tannins. The wine matured c.18 months in oak, then bottled under cork. Vineyard: Growing conditions in 2002 were challenging early on (millerandage and coulure) but late-summer warmth and dry, sunny September nights concentrated the berries; harvest ran 26 Sept–7 Oct. Drinking window: ready to drink now but with structure to keep a few more years. Suggested service: decant for 60–90 minutes to open the aromatics and soften edges.

Owned by the Sichel and Mähler-Besse families and managed by Bertrand Bouteiller with Thomas Duroux as winemaker in 2002, the domaine emphasizes terroir expression from 66 hectares of gravel soils above the Gironde, aiming for balance, length and a silky texture. Their approach blends careful viticulture with restrained, precise cellar work and extended ageing in oak.
