2017 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc

A crystalline Pessac‑Leognan white: precision, oak texture and long finish in one bottle.

【Why choose it?】
1) Estate craftsmanship -> Hand‑picked fruit, inert‑gas pressing and 50% new French oak give purity with layered toast and cream. Benefit: complexity without heaviness.
2) Ageworthy structure -> High acidity and lees aging add tension and aging potential. Benefit: drink now with decanting or cellar for a decade.
3) Signature terroir -> Pessac‑Leognan minerality and estate cooperage produce a distinct flinty backbone. Benefit: more character than generic blends at this price.

【Sommelier's note】On the nose: spring flowers, white peach, honeyed grapefruit and a touch of caramelized melon. Palate shows a rounded, almost buttery mid-palate from bâtonnage, bright citrus lift and a wet‑stone mineral core. Oak is present but integrated—vanilla and toasted almond more than spice. The texture is medium‑full and very polished; finish is long and saline.

【Occasions & Pairing】Perfect for celebratory dinners, seafood mains with butter or cream sauces, or a refined cheese course. In Hong Kong: pair with salmon meunière at a French bistro, creamy roasted chicken on a family Sunday, or gin‑barbecue tuna for a special sharing plate.

【Competitive edge】Compared with big-name white Bordeaux, this bottling offers superior textural richness and on‑site cooperage finesse at a relatively attractive market price—serious cellar value without the trophy markup.
