2009 Chateau Talbot opens with dense black-fruit layers—blackcurrant and plum—framed by cedar, dried herbs and a whisper of incense. The palate is full-bodied and generously endowed, yet the tannins are polished and silky rather than aggressive. Oak seasoning adds baking spice and a gentle smokiness; overall it feels plush, layered and irresistible. Drink now after a one-hour decant, or cellar for another decade-plus to watch tertiary notes develop.
