The vineyard slopes westward; higher parcels show gravel, lower slopes increase in clay with an iron-rich 'crasse de fer' subsoil — the geological mix responsible for the wine's firmness and persistence.
[Sommelier's Note] On the nose: dense, concentrated layers of dark cherry, espresso and tobacco. On the palate: a creamy core of cocoa and ripe berry framed by savory iron-mineral tension and polished but present tannins — medium-plus body, lowish acidity, long saline finish. Approachable now with air, yet still offering cellar potential.
