Tasting note: Deep garnet in the glass, this Monfalletto opens with an elegant bouquet of rose petal and lavender, red berries and a hint of grapefruit, edged by dusty spice and licorice. Toasted oak and warm spice follow; on the palate it is medium–full, warm and harmonious, with sculpted yet approachable tannins and a mineral, persistent finish.
Producer notes: The estate’s flagship and largest-production Barolo, Monfalletto unifies the company’s La Morra holdings (excluding small parcels reserved for single-vineyard labels). It is conceived as a wine of pleasantness and early accessibility while retaining classic structure and longevity.
Winemaking notes: Fermentation and élevage are handled parcel-by-parcel; vinification and ageing in wood follow individual paths and the final blending of all lots occurs only at bottling. The 2018 shows well-integrated oak influence and refined extraction. Some reports note organically grown fruit for this vintage.
Vineyard notes: Sourced from the La Morra hillside sites of the Monfalletto area — calcareous, well-drained soils and favourable exposures that lend floral lift and mineral precision. Vineyards are farmed to reflect terroir balance and to produce fruit with ripe tannin and aromatic generosity.
Service & cellaring: Ready to enjoy now with an hour’s decant, yet built to age; recommended drinking window through 2040. Pair with roasted lamb, mushroom ragù, stuffed pastas or aged hard cheeses.
