2019 Domaine Francois Mikulski Pommard Rouge

Tasting note: Bright red-fruited aromatics of cherry and plum lead into an earthy core—notes of forest floor, mushroom and leather with hints of spice and toasted oak. On the palate it’s medium-full and savory: ripe fruit framed by lively acidity and firm, structured tannins, finishing long with a savoury, slightly smoky echo. Producer notes: A family-run domaine under François and Marie‑Pierre Mikulski, focused on classic Côte de Beaune expression and careful vineyard work. Winemaking notes: Grapes are hand-harvested, vinified with gentle extraction to preserve finesse, then matured in French oak (judicious new oak) to integrate spice and texture. Vineyard notes: Parcels in Pommard sit on clay-rich soils that lend weight and tannic backbone; low yields and attentive canopy management accentuate concentration and terroir clarity. Ready to enjoy now with short decanting, and will age gracefully through the 2020s and into the early 2030s.
