Tasting note

A refined expression from a single Premier Cru parcel in Morey-Saint-Denis, this 2001 vintage shows elegant secondary development. Aromas of dried cherry, red plum and crushed cranberry lead into a complex undercurrent of forest floor, mushroom, leather and tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with bright acidity and silky, well-knit tannins; savory spice and subtle oak linger through a long, mineral-tinged finish. Producer notes indicate traditional, low-yield farming and careful élevage in French oak with measured use of new barrels, resulting in finesse rather than obvious wood. Vineyard sits on classic Côte de Nuits limestone-clay soils, delivering clarity, tension and a terroir-driven savoury profile. Best enjoyed after a short decant to let tertiary aromas open up.
