2016 Domaine Jacques Cacheux Vosne Romanee Les Chalandins

Soul Hook: An elegant Vosne-Romanee that pairs Burgundian finesse with immediate drinkability.

Why choose it?
1) Village terroir, village price -> Distinctive Vosne minerality and red-fruit clarity without the Côte d'Or premium.
2) Proven vintage balance -> 2016 gives ripe fruit, bright acidity and a poised structure ready to enjoy now.
3) Small‑scale producer care -> Handcrafted from focused parcels for purity and site expression.

Sommelier’s Notes: Aromas of ripe red cherry, cranberry and a thread of forest-floor earth lead to a palate of layered red fruits, dried herb and a light undercurrent of mushroom and stone. Tannins are fine-grained, acidity lifts the mid-palate and the finish is savory and persistent — elegant rather than opulent.

Winery & Winemaking: Domaine Jacques Cacheux works in small lots, picking by hand and favouring gentle extraction to preserve freshness. Aging in French oak adds subtle spice and frame without dominating the fruit. The result is a village Vosne that speaks of place and vintage.

Vineyard: Parcels on Vosne soils—calcareous clay with good drainage—give floral lift and mineral clarity. Low yields and meticulous selection ensure concentration without heaviness.

Occasion & Serving: Decant 30–60 minutes and serve at 15–17°C. Ideal for intimate dinners, special weekday meals or a mature cheese board shared with friends.

Competitive Edge: Offers Vosne-Romanee character and cellar potential at a price point that undercuts many better-known labels — great value for collectors and dinner hosts who want terroir, not hype.
