The 2016 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a testament to the art of Burgundian winemaking. This wine, with its deep rich ruby red hue, offers an aromatic symphony of red and black fruits, including cherries, mulberries, and blackcurrants, interwoven with hints of vanilla, spices, and a touch of woodland undergrowth. As it ages, it develops complex notes of violets and animal pelts. On the palate, it is harmonious and round, boasting a generous and fleshy profile with ample body. The balance is impeccable, with fine tannins, mellow texture, and a discreet acidity that carries the complex flavors to a lingering finish. Decant for an hour to fully appreciate its depth and pair it with dishes like roasted duck or beef bourguignon to elevate the dining experience.
