Tasting note: Bright red-cherry and wild strawberry aromatics open to violet florals, fresh cranberry spine and a whisper of baking spice and forest-floor complexity. On the palate the wine shows a supple, silky texture with lively acidity, fine-grained tannins and a mineral-tinged, lingering finish. Producer notes: Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret is a family-run Vosne-Romanée domaine with long-standing holdings in several premier cru sites. Under Jean Mongeard’s stewardship the estate pursues classic Burgundian balance: low yields, meticulous vineyard work and an aim for precise, terroir-driven wines. Winemaking notes: Grapes are hand-harvested and handled gently to preserve purity of fruit. Fermentation is carefully managed with moderate extraction to maintain finesse. The wine receives élevage in French oak barrels (a minority new oak) for an extended maturation period to integrate structure and aromatic complexity. Vineyard notes: Les Suchots is a sought-after premier cru with well-drained limestone-clay soils and an advantageous slope exposure that promotes ripe, concentrated fruit while retaining acidity and elegant tannins. The site’s mineral nerve and floral lift are clearly reflected in the finished wine. Serving suggestion: Decant for about 45 minutes to allow aromatics to open. Serve at 15–17°C. Pairs beautifully with roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes and aged cheeses.
