This 2007 Vigna Preve Lazzarito from Gianni Gagliardo is a mature Barolo showing evolved ruby-to-tawny hues and concentrated tertiary notes. The nose offers praliné and dark chocolate tempered by dried red berries, floral echoes and leather. On the palate it is full-bodied and structured, with a firm backbone of tannin, lively acidity and a cocoa-tinged, persistent finish. Producer notes describe parcel selection from the Lazzarito site with careful vineyard management and traditional long macerations; ageing combines large oak casks with selected barriques to round the wine without erasing its site character. Vineyard exposures in this zone give ripe, concentrated fruit with mineral lift and savory complexity. Serve after a good decant, and pair with roasted or braised lamb, rich pasta dishes or mature hard cheeses.
