Tasting note: Pale salmon-pink with a luminous bead. The nose opens to layered red-berry fruit, rosehip and pink grapefruit over brioche and toasted almond. On the palate it is vibrant and textured — lively citrus, a whisper of honeyed richness and a fine, persistent mousse that carries saline mineral notes into a long, refined finish.
Producer notes: Part of Krug's multi-vintage 'Edition' series, Edition 27 is a complex assemblage of nearly four dozen reserve and recent wines. House philosophy emphasizes depth through reserve wines and extended aging before release; roughly 55% of the blend comes from the house’s reserve library and the cuvée rests for years on the lees to harmonize.
Winemaking notes: Made by the traditional method with a portion of macerated red wine contributing colour and structure, the wine undergoes extended élevage (seven years en tirage) and benefits from subtle oak maturation in the broader cellar program. Brut dosage keeps the wine dry while showcasing freshness and textural richness.
Vineyard notes: Grapes are sourced from selected plots across the Champagne region, chosen for complementary soils and microclimates. The terroir mix — with classic chalky, limestone and clay influences — lends minerality and precise acidity that underpin the wine’s structure.
Service: Serve well chilled; allow a short 10-minute breathing time after opening if you’d like the aromatics to blossom. Excellent as an aperitif or paired with richer seafood and celebratory dishes.
