2023 Longyu Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
2023 Longyu Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
2023 Reserve from Longyu opens with a deep ruby core and an expressive nose of dark berry compote, blackcurrant and ripe plum enlivened by cedar, vanilla and a hint of tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate it delivers concentrated fruit framed by firm, slightly chewy tannins and medium‑high acidity, carrying through savory oak spice and black pepper to a long, warming finish. Producer notes describe small‑lot selection and careful oak integration: hand-harvested fruit, gentle extraction during fermentation and 10–14 months ageing in a mix of new and second‑fill barrels to build structure without overwhelming fruit. Vineyards are planted on well‑drained slopes with good diurnal range, encouraging ripe fruit with retained freshness. Best enjoyed after a short decant to let the layers open and pair it with grilled and slow‑cooked red meats or aged cheeses.

Longyu (龍諭) is presented as a reserve programme focused on small batches and careful winemaking. The estate emphasizes hand selection, controlled fermentations and measured oak use to craft wines with clear fruit definition and ageing potential. For this reserve, fruit is sourced from hillside blocks chosen for good drainage and cooler night temperatures; the resulting wine is aged in a combination of new and older barrels to build texture while keeping primary aromas intact.
