2020 Markus Molitor Riesling Haus Klosterberg Dry
The dry 2016 Riesling "Haus Klosterberg" (White Capsule) is entirely made from own grapes, but 80% are from the Serriger Vogelsang and Heiligenborn (Saar), from the former Staatsdomäne Serrig that Molitor purchased in autumn 2016. That's why he wasn't allowed to bottle the wine as a Weingut or producer bottling. However, the Saar vineyards give the wine a cooler, fresher and more piquant character. The 2016 opens with concentrated and spicy Riesling fruit. Lean but with ripe and elegant fruit, this is a charmingly round and lush Riesling with ripe acidity and a salty-piquant, finely tannic finish. Still young, this wine will benefit from bottle aging.
